Ready before you configure anything.

WattByte automatically adapts currency, regional settings and energy pricing to your location.

Region
From the device region setting or the system locale, or chosen by you.
Currency
Follows the region through a fixed country-to-currency table.
Electricity price
A public household average for your country, or a tariff you type in.
Battery capacity
Looked up for your phone model in a device catalog, or entered by hand.

Region comes from, in order: device region, system locale, country detection on the server, your own choice. No location permission is requested and no location is stored.

Ask WattByte.

WattByte AI reads the totals your phone already computed and explains them in plain language.

The questions an insight answers

  • Why was my battery usage higher today?
  • How much energy did my phone use this week?
  • Is my mobile data usage unusual?
  • What caused this spike?
  • How can I reduce my battery usage?

Why was my battery usage higher today?

Your energy use was approximately 18% higher than your recent average. Most of the increase occurred between 14:00 and 17:00.

Example data. Not a real user.

  • Only period totals are sent: data in GB, charging sessions, energy in kWh, estimated cost and the change against the previous period.
  • The AI never calculates, converts or invents a number. It explains numbers the app measured.
  • It cannot name the app that used the energy: iOS exposes no per-app data, and Android exposes data by app, not energy.

Built to stay flexible.

The AI layer is a gateway, not a single model. Each request is routed to one configured provider; after an outage or a rate limit, at most one other provider is tried. Your totals are never sent to every provider at once.

  • Provider keys live on the server, never in the app
  • Requests carry period totals only; an e-mail, user id or token is rejected before a prompt exists
  • Prompts and answers are not stored by WattByte
  • Daily and monthly spend limits per provider

Insights, computed on your phone

  • You used 12% less mobile data than last week.
  • You charged your phone 9 times this week.
  • Wi-Fi represented 89% of your total data usage.
  • Your average charging session added 1,860 mAh.

Your data shouldn’t be trapped in an app.

Export everything WattByte stores on your phone from Settings, in formats a spreadsheet or a script can read.

CSV
Daily data and charging sessions, one row per day or session.
JSON
Days, sessions, settings and battery capacity in one document.

If you use cloud sync, the server keeps a JSON and CSV export of your account too.

Your usage data is personal. We treat it that way.

What the app stores, what it sends and what it never does, in plain language. The full policy says the same thing with more detail.

Only what the features need
Daily totals, battery samples and charging sessions are stored in the app’s private storage. Per-app usage is read when you open the screen and never saved.
Nothing leaves the phone unless you choose
Cloud sync is off by default and has its own switch. When it is on, one row per day is uploaded: bytes, Wh, sessions and estimated cost. Never raw samples.
You control the account
Delete the account from inside the app. It removes the account and every synced row, in one step.
No ads, no trackers
No analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, no crash-reporting service. Your data is not sold to advertisers.
A secure connection
The app talks to the WattByte backend over HTTPS only, and keeps its sign-in tokens in the system keychain.
Permissions explained first
Each system permission is explained on screen before the system prompt appears, and each one can be declined.

Built like infrastructure, not a weekend prototype.

Measurement happens on the phone. The backend only holds accounts, optional daily totals and the AI gateway.

Questions people ask before installing.

What is WattByte?

WattByte is a mobile app for iPhone and Android that shows how much data and energy your phone uses: mobile and Wi-Fi traffic, battery used, estimated energy in Wh and kWh, and the estimated electricity cost. It turns system counters into numbers you can read.

How does WattByte calculate energy usage?

From the counters the operating system exposes. Where the phone reports an energy counter it is used directly; otherwise charge in mAh is multiplied by the battery voltage, and if no counter exists at all, the change in battery level is multiplied by the design capacity of your phone model. Wh becomes kWh, and the wall energy adds a charging efficiency you can adjust. Values that rely on an estimate are marked as such.

Is WattByte measuring electricity directly?

No. Phones have no power meter an app can read. WattByte reads the battery and network counters the system provides and calculates or estimates the rest from your device parameters. It is an estimate of what the battery took in, not a reading from your wall socket.

Does WattByte drain my battery?

It is designed not to. Counters are read when you open the app, in a short background refresh a few times an hour, and on Android once a minute only while the phone is charging. There is no always-on service.

Does WattByte track my location?

No. It never asks for location permission. The region used for currency and electricity price comes from your device region setting or system locale, and you can change it by hand.

Does WattByte sell my data?

No. There is no advertising SDK, no analytics SDK and no tracker in the app. Usage data stays on your phone unless you switch on cloud sync, and even then only daily totals are uploaded.

Your device already generates the data. WattByte makes it useful.

Understand your battery, data and energy usage in one place.
